Mari Makinami Illustrious! Energetic and playful, she’s a skillful pilot with an aggressive fighting style, and the only one to truly enjoy piloting. She was a contemporary of Gendo and Yui in university, meaning she is much older than she appears and somehow regressed, likely due to the Curse of Eva. She isn’t one to let this bother her, though, as she seems to embrace her newfound youth, acting, in a word kooky. She’s somewhat enigmatic, and enjoys the smell of LCL, going as far as to sniff the other pilots.
She grows closer to Asuka over time, and their shared quarters in what appears to be an isolation chamber means the two of them end up spending a lot of close time together when off duty. Overall, she seems to not only enjoy piloting, but everything being involved with the Evangelion project afforded her.
