She got her name after she was transformed from human to a she devil by the very being that she sold her very soul to as payment to bringing back her family or what was left of them. Dark, was the name her creator her master had given her “your past as a human died the moment you shook my hand. Don’t look at me like that, I gave you what you needed which was power and I gave you what you wanted which is revenge. You’re mine now Dark.” Since then Dark used her skills as a blacksmith to forge weapons of power and destruction for the Sparda clan and slowly rose in the ranks of power until she was free to travel through the human world on foot.
To her adoptive family, they weren’t sure why she always decided to travel by foot and not use the wings she inherited when she sold her soul to her master. To Dark though , traveling on foot was the closest thing she had to remember her life as a human. So she travels by foot from one village to another, to one kingdom to another to sell her forges and make connections with both humans and inhuman alike.
