Personality
Known to be very laidback, Sebek usually goes with the flow with not a hint of confliction or dismay. His ability to relax himself can be concerning, making it seem like he doesn't care about the situation at hand, or even understand what's going on. He's smarter than what he makes out to be though, and maintains his responsibility to do what he can if he happens to be involved in said situation. It also makes him a good mediator, making him dependable to help both sides settle their differences if needed, so to help them relax.
That being said, he can't stand being put under high amounts of stress, as it makes his head and his body ache, so keeping his cool is something he seriously thrives for. It's very possible for Sebek to have his moments though-- when given sugary foods or when he's as drunk as a skunk. As much as he likes a good drink, he tries not to drink too much, knowing what it can do to him. It causes his past and any of his troubles to come crashing down on him, which could make him prone to passing out from the tension. He also cannot seem to stand Lisa, a former fellow student of Sumeru Akademiya, and is the one person who makes Sebek unable to stay calm and collected.
Despite his "I'm a lover, not a fighter" attitude, Sebek shows to be quite experienced in combat and fights in his own unique style-- with a relaxed posture and his mind at ease, even during the most deadly of battles. With his experience, he silently begs to take up whatever task-- easy to hard, and innocent to deadly, so the Traveler doesn't have to dirty their own hands. As a merchant, he keeps his word about how legit they are and always speaks truth about the item's origins as best he can describe them, either in theory or truth. He's also a pillar with his wares. Despite his usual nature, he's strict with prices, and usually doesn't lower them or hand out discounts as he knows the value of what he sells, so he sells them accordingly as such. Attempting to steal one of Sebek's belongings will turn into a regrettable mistake...
Deep down beneath Sebek's calm demeanor is quite the lonely man. Whether it be caused by having been raised amidst his family's travels or due to always leaving the friends he's made growing up, he has his moments. When on the road, he'll bring forth his sand camel to keep him company whenever he gets too lonesome.
Sebek's desire for knowledge is actually quite low, despite his wish to continue studying at the Akademiya. Due to his reports on ancient runes, he's shown to be quite savvy in deciphering them with little to no issue.

STORY 1
Born in a family of merchants hailing from Sumeru, Sebek is the youngest of three sons. His childhood was filled with hardly anything but constant travel. From homeland to Fontaine, to Inazuma, to Liyue, to Mondstadt, to Natlan, to Snezhnaya, and back around again. Ruins explored and so much to be seen-- and even then, Teyvet would still have much to offer.
At a young age, he strived to explore every nook and cranny for the rarest treasures and sell them for the best prices. His mother and father taught him and his brothers well, and made sure they remained wary of fakes and the dangers of finding rumored valuables long forgotten by people today.
Along with keen eyes and steady hands, he handles each and every treasure with the utmost care and delicacy.
STORY 2
The many possessions Sebek has found during his travels sell for high prices; it's a surprise that they sell at all. Some are happy to take these items off the hands of Sebek's family, while others were skeptical, and some-- well, they always believed that their prices were plain, old high robbery. They couldn't believe such things could be sold for that amount of mora.
Sebek's parents were a little bit easy going when it came to their wares. They were willing to bargain as long as it made the customer happy, and they were getting paid. A win-win-- not to Sebek. With sharp vision and a a good hand in trade, he could see the value in these marketed items. Such things would grab them plenty of mora, where plenty of that mora is used for the greater good, to benefit others.
Where are all his wares anyways? Hidden in the sack he wears on his back. A mystery to many and a surprise to very few, you would do well not to steal his bag...
STORY 3
As fun as the multiple journeys were, Sebek had a hole in his heart, a weary head, and only wanted to stop and breathe. He wanted savor moments and make memories, not leave on a whim and constantly start anew. It wasn't as if traveling was no longer for him; trekking was in his blood and soul.
All he desired to do was settle down and take a breather for his life's sake. The world was big, and exploring it was a grand experience, but his parents were always so quick to leave, there was no time to enjoy the townfolk, the scenery-- he just wanted that chance. On multiple occasions, he's brought this up to Haurun and Osiris, his two older brothers.
"Do you guys feel that mother and father are moving too quickly? Why can't we stay a little longer wherever we are?" One time, Sebek asked this and their parents overheard, with their father looking a bit stirred. He asks if he's not happy with their adventures and shuts him down by mentioning the harsh reality of Sebek's inability to handle stressful situations, making it seem as if he shouldn't attempt something new and different.
Despite it, as desperate as he was to feel that certain touch of inner relief, at the darkest of night, Sebek leaves a long, heartfelt note for his family so not to put himself into hot water with his family. Thankfully at the time, his parents were away in Natlan's caverns, while his brothers were asleep at the home bought with some of the finances gained through selling their latest wares. This allowed him to dodge an overwhelming situation, and he departs from the temporary home without looking back.
STORY 4
This desire of his led him back to his homeland to enlist himself into the Sumeru Akademiya, a place his curiosity was always piqued by when he was a child. Sebek's family always steered him away from thinking of the place due to the difficulty and stress it offered, opposite to the more easygoing lifestyle of a merchant.
Out of the Six Darshans, he thought of enrolling in Vahumana, but opted for Haravatat instead as it could potentially benefit him once graduating. On a different note, he's learned much history during his travels but has shown little interest in the concept of cause and effect, which means he would have to really dig deep into theories-- which sounded stressful.
A change at his own pace. It felt nice to think about.
He finds a friend in Cyno, a fellow student and General Mahamatra, and through him, he meets a beautiful young woman named Lisa Minci. Having hailed from Mondstadt, she came to his home region to study magic. Meeting her may have been a joy, but not long after their encounter, he was starting to falter in his studies. He blamed the pressure on high expectations the Sages thrived to see out of him, but little did he know, it was more than just that alone.
STORY 5
Despite shortcomings for two years time, Sebek managed to make quite the high impression on Sage Khajeh, who met with him one day, inviting him to talk. Questions of the past and future, Sebek's works revolving around ancient runes, why he chose Haravatat over Vahumana, and more had been brought up and answered accordingly. It left Sage Khajeh with one more thing to ask--
"What are your thoughts of running as a candidate for Grand Conservator?"
It was quite the question to hear. It was complicated to give an answer, even while being told that he had gained quite the small following around Sumeru City; a bit overwhelming if Sebek thought of it enough.
Once finally able to respond, he says he needed time to think about that and thankfully, his answer received respect. He would never forgive himself for suddenly offending one of the Sages. By the time their talk ended and they went their separate ways, Sebek begins to head back home, only to stumble across a package and a letter at his door. Curious, he takes the two and heads inside to take a look. The letter was sent to him by none other than his parents; it took Sebek by surprise and he anticipated the worse to come from their words. However, instead of lectures, he found the words to be accepting.
His father, who wrote it personally, gave his regards to his son by congratulating him on his feats at the Akademiya. He was proud to see him succeed and hoped that to see him one day; his mother was worried and his older brothers couldn't wait to hear more of his accomplishments. Almost tear inducing, the letter continues with its end consisting of: "--And let me remind you that your grandmother was once a student at the Akademiya. Never let the crazed wiles of knowledge corrupt the mind. Keep them to heart, I beg of you." Sebek turned his attention to the package, and inside was a familiar item: a small sack. This gift, having been practically an heirloom for many years since the living days of his ancestors, allowed Sebek to set stone his decision to Sage Khajeh's previous inquiry.
The next day, he asks for the Sage's audience, and declines the hopes of running for Grand Conservator so he could instead travel and research. With his knowledge on Teyvat, it was a good idea and approved.
Now, as a Driyosh, Sebek sets upon the trekker's path once to continue the work as a merchant, as he was inspired to continue doing with the gift he was given. He doesn't dilly dally with his research and thrives to continue his studies at his own leisure, with his father's words to forever remind him of the fatal life choice he made.
Sebek's Hump-Back Sack
Rumor that floats around the people of Sumeru says he's a camel in disguise--which is obviously untrue, while merchants say his whole entire stock is in that bag alone; they claimed they've seen him pull dozens of his wares from it!
The sack was a gift sent to him by his parents along with a letter before he picked back up on the family business. It's an item that remains precious to him despite their once rocky relationship.
When it comes to the second rumor, he doesn't exactly respond on it. Relatives once said it came from Celestia, while others say it once belonged to the Scarlet King himself, but Sebek doesn't see anything that special about it nor does he care of its origins. His parents gave it to him, and that's all that matters.
Potential Akademiya Dropout
Sebek's desire to be around others without passing them by so often was the cause for his enrollment at the school. As someone who is quite unable to work under stress, his usual method would never save him the moment he even thought of enrolling. During his first two years, his shortcomings were highly straining; sleepless nights alone drove him mad. There were times he would find himself unable to speak, to see, to read, to write-- and yet he mentally fought with himself countless times for the sake of his studies.
Hardly good enough to him but thank the Archons Sage Khajeh nor any of the other sages spoke about it...and yet, it still pressured Sebek so.
His fears teetered on the edge of dropping out. He simply couldn't handle it anymore; his parents were right all along...but he desired to prove them wrong for the sake of his wish to keep his friends in his life, to be remembered by them.
His decision to become a Driyosh came after almost two and a half years of study. He feared saying anything to Sage Khajeh until that fateful day he was approached about the idea of running for Grand Conservator.
He's had yet to reach his credentials for graduation, but after learning the sages are to be replaced, Sebek feels it may not be coming any time soon.
