A little bit of background information: Axthar is set in Christian lore. As in the old testament whenever Adam and Eve bit into the forbidden fruit and was tossed from the Garden of Eden, God himself was split into almost countless other more weaker deities. These beings lived in harmony for a few millennia, all at the peak of their respective title due to humans worshipping at the very alters that represented them. Though in time their worship and reliance on the Gods began to dwindle, and in effect, the Gods themselves began to dwindle in power.
In time however, some of the more dark and twisted Gods found that by killing one another they could in effect steal their powers and titles granting them the power that they became so reliant on. And so began to the civil war between the Gods, the war caused the flood to crash down upon the earth and all life would have been wiped out if it hadn't been for Noah and his ark. The fighting slowed down aft.er that but was by no means done.
